Your Trainer

Hello! My name is Pascale Battrick and I will be your (REPs registered) Lifestyle Transformation Specialist. My sole purpose in launching OXYGEN Fitness Excellence® was to serve my community by educating and improving the health and wellbeing of the people around me and to elevate our awareness of the negative effects that poor nutrition and stress have on our lives and the lives of our friends and family members. It is my belief that if the men and women in any given community are uneducated in these fields, then so are their children, spouses and family members. Given the statistics on preventable killers like heart-disease and obesity, I feel it’s time we took charge of our bodies and began to reverse the effects of these deadly conditions.

To give you a little bit of background, I have spent most of the last decade working in differing yet related fields around the world and conducting research into what precisely makes us tick.  All of the interactions with foreign cultures have allowed me to delve more deeply into different methods of eating, exercising, finding inner peace and living holistically, which ultimately led me to this spot. Looking at my own progress, I had decided that after living healthily in a somewhat mediocre sense, it was time to change. Besides, who ever said our twenties were the years for looking and feeling the best in our lives? The thirties, forties and fifties should be where we apply the knowledge we gained in our youth and the experience we acquire along the way to maturity, to further enrich and improve our physical, spiritual and emotional selves.

I had used gyms and fitness centres abroad and at home and one thing was common among them all: they only ever got me part-way to where I wanted to be – never the whole way. You yourself may have experienced working out in a gym or club and may also be wondering why You haven’t achieved Your goals in their fullness. I believe the reason is that gyms and clubs can only individualise to a certain degree, which means that nothing is tailored to suit Your specific needs and there is only a certain level of personal attention available to You as a member. What’s more, unless taking on a personal trainer to assist You, You are paying for something that is oftentimes unsafe, unnatural, and not functional. My experience in these clubs was that I always left feeling like I wanted more, that the gym alone wasn’t able to give that to me and therefore wasn’t the answer to my problems.

Upon qualifying as a Master Executive Trainer right here in Christchurch at the foremost training facility in the Pacific, I suddenly knew why I didn’t, and never would again, see that the gym was enough for me. Whilst some of You may find that gyms do help You achieve the level of health and wellbeing You desire, and I think that’s wonderful if You do, most of us are still struggling to reach our goals this way and are wasting time and money each week, month and year in doing so. I wanted to offer people a service for which the only thing they had to do was turn up, and get more than their money’s worth.

Some things I noticed during intermittent trips and upon my ultimate return to New Zealand is that men, women and children, but women especially, are bigger than I remember and that the sector of the fitness industry that targets women is average, at best. Now, whilst one of my aims is to educate and train men in order to increase their fitness levels, the current situation in NZ has led me to want to pay specialist attention to the advancement of the health and wellbeing of all women in my community too, with the view that their increased knowledge and understanding will trickle down to the next generation.

My colourful work history over the past 15 years has essentially formed the  puzzle pieces that sculpted the vision for OXYGEN Fitness Excellence® – and I do not want to keep all of these juicy morsels of healthy truth to myself! To touch on a few experiences, I have worked as a chef and conducted community-based cooking classes on three continents, specialising in European, Middle Eastern and Asian-fusion cuisines; I have nutrition and natural health experience from NZ, the UK and Japan; and I have facilitated motivational workshops and gatherings for children and adults on subjects to do with spiritual wellbeing, social interaction and moral empowerment in the UK and Japan. I have also trained in competition-level Capoeira (Regional style) for many years in Europe, and taught the art to primary school children, senior high school students and adults in the UK and Japan.

Some of these fields of work have been volunteer projects that developed naturally as a result of the inherent needs of the communities I found myself in, others have been full time jobs. But all have been integral in moulding what is on offer to You today. I hope to meet You soon and I look forward to helping You improve the way you think, feel and act in regards to Your physical and emotional wellbeing.
